Introduce the basics of chemical analysis with this exciting hands-on unit. Students explore the properties of several common household substances using heat, natural pH indicators, and techniques such as filtration, evaporation, and crystallization. While gaining basic lab skills, students develop investigative abilities of observation, making deductions, recording data, and drawing conclusions.

Part of the Science and Technology for Children® curriculum, this unit is aligned with the National Science Education Standards and offers complete hands-on instruction.
