Our children's future will be filled with incredible, advanced technologies -- the likes of which we can only dream of today. And it is highly likely that many of these new technologies will be discovered or developed right here in Orange County.
Science literacy, therefore, will no longer be an advantage, but an absolute necessity for success. The goal of Beckman@Science is to prepare Orange County's children for tomorrow's world by making science a core subject throughout their entire elementary school education.

The Beckman@Science program was established through a generous grant from The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, with a primary purpose of assisting Orange County elementary schools in the enhancement of science education. This funding will stimulate schools to teach science as a core subject in grades K-6, so that a passion for scientific exploration can be passed on to a new generation of curious minds. For many it will be the beginning of a lifelong affinity for things scientific. For others, it will be a wondrous start to a life dedicated to extending the boundaries of science and technology.
The program operates in five main domains:
(1) Providing professional
development for elementary, K-6 teachers
(2) Offering materials support for teachers using science kits
(3) Working with individual school districts through our incentive grants program
(4) Evaluating the success of the program and student achievement
(5) Educating the community about the need for science education through community
outreach
