| Travel Arrangements:
May
I book my own flight or use my own travel agency?
No.
The Beckman Foundation will not reimburse any airline ticket
purchased by means other than our travel
agency.
I
prefer to fly on certain airlines so that I may earn frequent
flyer miles. May I tell your travel agency which airline and
flight I prefer?
Only
the most direct, reasonable round trip coach-fare
to the Orange
County/L.A. area will be ticketed. The airline will be determined
by the travel agency.
If I want to leave
the symposium on Saturday evening after the events are over,
may I have the agency book my return flight a day early?
We
prefer that you stay over the Saturday night, in order that
the best airfare is available. If you have questions, please
contact the
Beckman Scholars
Program Administrator
to discuss the issue.
I
need to arrive a day earlier than (or plan to stay a after)
the symposium dates. Do I need to reserve my early arrival or
extended stay directly with the hotel and will the Foundation
cover the expenses?
You may
arrive earlier or stay after the symposium dates at your own
expense. You will need to indicate the extra dates on the registration
form. Additionally, if the early arrival/later departure results
in a higher airfare, you will be financially responsible for
the difference in cost.
Spouses, Guests,
Family Members:
May
I bring a spouse or friend to the symposium during the day?
Unfortunately,
due to limited space, we only have room for those who have received
an invitation. You may bring a spouse or one guest to the evening
events/dinners.
My
family and I will make this trip our summer vacation. May they
stay in my hotel room with me?
Yes...
however, if there is an extra charge to have additional people
in the room, you are responsible for the expenses. Additionally,
only your spouse or one guest is invited to the evening dinner
events. There is child care available through the hotel.
Speakers
and Poster Presentations:
I
was asked to present a poster of my research during the symposium.
What are the criteria I need to consider?
The poster
dimensions are 4' X 4'. You may place several pages on the board
or one poster to cover the area. Your materials will be placed
on a white board with push pins.
I
am a speaker at the symposium. What audio/visual equipment is
available to me and how do I reserve it?
Whatever
you require for your speaking presentation should be indicated
on your registration form in the appropriate area. Types of
A/V equipment available are: slide projectors, PowerPoint presentations
through computer or over head projectors, VCRs, monitors, etc..
